Cloud Gaming

The Internet over the years has always grown in terms of development, storage or the sheer number of apps and data available for our usage. Along with the Internet, the internet speed also increased. According to Ookla, the average speed of a normal consumer in 2009 was about 5 Mbps. But today, it is nearly 100 Mbps. This increase in speed has made a considerable change in how the internet is used. From streaming movies and videos to playing online games with almost zero lag or buffering, this will only get better in the coming years. New technologies are surfacing for example, the Starlink and 5G.

As a gamer, playing games on my potato PC was always a challenge. For example, not having adequate RAM, graphics card, storage space etc. Some games require specs that are not yet available in the market (for example, “CONTROL”, a game that supports 8K and RTX).

Get into Cloud Gaming, the technology that allows almost any PC and phone regardless of it's specifications and lets you play games through an app or a browser. No need for 16 GB RAM or an RTX 3090 or even a high capacity hard disk, everything can be done with a 30 Mbps network connection and a normal device (some specs are required).

GeForce Now is a major player in the cloud gaming platform. It offers a wide range of games which can be played on a normal PC, phone, Android TV, etc. It runs from more than 20 data centers sited around the world. You can access the one nearby your location and depending on which membership plan you choose. All your games start running on the best Nvidia graphics cards around (RTX), so they will look their best no matter the spec of the hardware you are using at your end. All of your saved files are stored in the cloud so you can pick up where you left off whenever you like. Users can even play using Chrome browser in the Android TV to play with someone playing on PC and it supports voice chats.

This was an overview about what is Cloud Gaming and how does it work. Hope you found it informative!
