Automation

Hi there,

Sam here, although it’s my first time but I’m super excited writing this…

In today’s blog, I will discuss automation and how it is transforming our world.

When you hear the word “automation”, what comes to your mind? I guess some fancy robots like “Voltron the legendary defender” (only those born in the 90s can relate…) But let’s have a quick look at the concept of automation to enable us to understand how it works.

The use of IT (Information Technology) is paramount in our daily lives. In fact, we depend on applications like Uber to book a ride, Airbnb for accommodation, and Amazon to shop for items. It is fascinating how these technologies are changing and affecting the conventional ways of doing things. A couple of years ago, you’d agree with me that having to shop for groceries, you’d have to drive to a mall, pick a four-wheeled cart and move around stores to locate the items you need. Currently, all you need to do is order these items with a few clicks on your smart device and from the comfort of your home, voilà; the items are delivered to your doorsteps. As a result of automation, business operations are carried out efficiently for a better customer experience.

Automation is described by Wikipedia as “a wide range of technologies that reduce human intervention in processes”. And this human intervention is reduced by predetermining decision criteria, sub-process relationships, and related actions — and embodying those predeterminations in machines. It includes the use of various equipment and control systems such as machinery, processes in factories, boilers, and heat-treating ovens, switching on telephone networks, steering, and stabilization of ships, aircraft, and other applications and vehicles with reduced human intervention. Furthermore, automation can be in many forms, including Robotics, Computerization, Artificial Intelligence, and Mechanization. It has become an unavoidable feature of how we live and work, bringing unprecedented value to both, and also raising important questions about our future as well. There is no doubt automation has improved productivity and efficiency when deployed by companies to bring innovation and growth in order to improve workflows and internal processes.

Automation is not rocket science as individuals just like you and I are building applications to make our world a better place. Archi’s Academy offers training to equip you to become an expert in building applications. Join our next cohort to begin your journey by reaching out to us via [email protected]. We’d be glad to hear from you. Hope you enjoyed reading this.

See you next time!
