Mentorship

Software Development

Technology

You have been working on your codes since eternity, and it is all numbers now. All you want is a company to relax and unwind. So, what better than books?

Traditionally, books were for serious people looking to expand their knowledge, now, it is for cool people looking to expand their knowledge! Now, we know software development is all about serious stuff and thinking, so we decided to compile a list of three books, which are not only fun but packed with a lot of humour content while you gain the knowledge!

1.Born a Crime — Trevor Noah

2 (1)

Now, If you do not know who Trevor Noah is, then you certainly need a break from your computer! No judging happening here, but Trevor is perhaps the best comedian in recent times, and we guess this would explain for a quite significant part of why we chose this book. Born a Crime is a book which is not about computers or Softwares per se, but they do play a crucial role in his story.

Read this book for:

a. Laughing out loud alone because Trevor has kept his comedy intact! b. Discovering a new country. Trevor has been quite motivated in describing his homeland, which gives you a mental tour of his place. c. Understanding the human aspect of mothers. Okay, we know that we all have idealised our mothers to be the best and the perfect and this flawless goddess, but what if we tell you that your mother is as human and as flawed as you are. Read Trevor on how he discovers, faces, and later accepts this reality!

2. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck — Mark Manson

3 (1)

Now, we know that many of you might have already read this gem already, but we simply could not leave it out! In case you have not read it, let us vouch for this book which is packed with a lot of advice which certainly appeals to the millennial in you! This book has literally nothing to do with the Software industry, but has everything to do with the mental stress, burnout, pressure, and the worry which we face as developers and coders! Read this book for:

a. Kiss-akk ( ) advice on how to handle things, prioritise events, and people all together. b. The best in the class of self-help books, which is literally nothing like anything like normal ones! c. Laugh sessions in solitude, because Mark will kiss your akk while he TALKS!

3. Atomic Habits — James Clear

4 (1)

Now, we know so many people will have an argument on why this book is not funny. We might as well agree to it! However, listen to our argument!

not all the fun books have to be humourous per se. James has written an excellent time management book which talks about the root of all the misery and miracle — the habits! So, this makes a perfect read if you want to learn serious stuff with so many of the mini-stories floating around!

Read this book for:

a. Understanding the science behind our habits b. Learning about people who did well and who failed miserably, on whatever they did! c. Developing habits as you want and killing the ones which you don’t. That is it from us, next week, we will be back with our productivity books, or playlist maybe! Who knows — life is a mystery and it should be that way, right?

let us know in the comments if you have read any of the books, or if you are in the mood to argue if we should remove one. Also, we will love to have book suggestions for ourselves, jot down the companions you have!
